Best Monitors Under Rs.10000 In India: A Complete Buying Guide

The monitor is one of the most important parts of a computer setup. Doesn’t matter if you’re rocking an RTX3080 build with high-end specs, a bad monitor will suck away all the charm. They range from various shapes and sizes from ultrawide to ultrathin, there’s something for everyone. If you want the best experience possible when working on your computer, having a good monitor can really help. But you might think that these monitors will come bundled with a heavy price tag,  but that’s not the case anymore! If you’re looking for a bargain in the monitor market, then there are plenty of choices out there that won’t cost you an arm and a leg. Nowadays we are seeing high spec monitors rolling out on prices as low as Rs.10,000!  But even at that price point, proper research is necessary to get the best for your money.  Fortunately, we at Techoids have done the research for you and found the best monitors selling for 10k. Doesn’t matter if you are heading back to school or getting your grind on, this list got you covered!

Things to keep in mind while buying monitors:

Ports: An HDMI and a USB port will get the job done

An HDMI and a USB type C ports are the most common ports that you will find in most of the monitors. However, they might also include older ports like DVI and VGA ports that you can use to connect to older hardware. But an HDMI port and a USB type C port are more than enough for modern systems. There are 4 different types of HDMI cables to connect to your monitor’s HDMI port

HDMI Standard: For resolutions up to 1080p. This is the most common option.

HDMI High Speed: For 4K resolution.

HDMI Premium High Speed: For HDR-enabled devices.

HDMI Ultra High Speed: For HDMI 2.1 features, which include uncompressed 8K video display.

Most modern monitors opt for a USB type C port over a traditional USB port for feeding power. Another great thing about USB type C is that it’s reversible, allowing you to plug it either way. This makes a very convenient monitor port type, especially when you plan to use it with different devices since it provides you with the option to connect your smartphone, tablet, and more to your monitor.

You can also find a port called display port(DP) in some premium monitors. It is mostly reserved for high-end graphics cards and is mostly used when gaming or doing graphic-intensive tasks.

    Display size: between 21-25 inch

The right size of the monitor will depend on your need and use. In this price range, you will find monitors between 21 inches and 25 inches. These fall under the widescreen category and are great for small setups.

    Display technology: LED or LCD?

In this price range, you will find a LED or LCD monitors. A light-emitting diode (LED) display is a flat panel display, based on the LED producing light. This type of display has gained in popularity in recent years due to its ability to provide bright images with low power consumption, in contrast to liquid crystal displays(LCD) which consume large amounts of power. All LED displays are just LCDs. The difference is in the backlights. While a standard LCD monitor uses fluorescent backlights, an LED monitor uses light-emitting diodes for backlights. LED monitors usually have superior picture quality, but they come in varying backlight configurations. And some backlight configurations create better images than others.

Panel type: determines the image quality and the refresh rate

The display type is further divided into different panels, the difference between different types of panels is mostly in how the in-between liquid crystal part works. Different panels offer different advantages. Your choice will depend upon your usage.

TN panels: Best for gaming because of high refresh rate

The Twisted Nematic (TN) panel is the most widely used display technology in today’s LCD monitors. This panel supports a high refresh rate, so you will find monitors with 144Hz or higher refresh rates with TN panels. TN panel monitors are the only 240Hz monitors available right now. Due to the higher refresh rate, these are great for competitive gaming. But they suffer from poor color contrast and also have poor viewing angles.

IPS panels: Best for editing because of great color accuracy

In-plane switching (IPS) panels produce accurate colors and have great viewing angles. They produce great colors making them ideal for video editing purposes. But these panels are not as fast as the TN ones, They have a bad response rate and refresh rate. You won’t see an IPS monitor having a refresh rate of more than 144Hz.

    VA panels: A balanced experience

Vertical alignment (VA) panels provide a balanced experience as compared to IPS and TN panels. In VA panels crystals are perpendicular to the polarizers, this allows for good color contrast and a decent refresh rate. They also provide better viewing angles than TN panels, but still, they are not as fast as TN panels.

Higher the resolution, more detailed the picture quality

Resolution refers to the number of pixels produced on-screen by a computer monitor. The level of picture quality is measured by the number of pixels within an image. The more pixels you have, the more detailed or higher the resolution your image will be. This is the most important aspect to check while buying a monitor. A resolution of 1920×1080 would be a common find in monitors with this price range, you will get a full HD 1080p experience with this resolution. Some other common resolutions are:

    1280 x 720 – 720P HD

    1920 x 1080 – 1080P FHD

    2560 x 1440 – 1440P QHD

    3840 x 2160 – 4K UHD

    7680 x 4320 – 8K UHD

Aspect ratio: 16:9 is the most common

Aspect ratio is the relation between the width and height of the monitor. Two of the most common aspect ratios that you can find are 4:3 and 16:9. 16:9 is the native resolution of most HD displays. You can also go for 16:10 as they are more or less the same.

    Refresh rate: bigger the better

Refresh rate is the speed at which a display updates its screen. This is measured in Hertz (Hz) and relates to how fast an image can be redrawn. The higher the Hz, the more frames per second are displayed on the screen.

The refresh rate of a monitor determines how quickly it can update what’s shown on-screen. For example, if your computer shows you a video of somebody walking around you would expect them to appear smooth and fluid as though they are walking.

Refresh rates can make a huge impact while gaming, it is recommended to go for refresh rates above 75Hz for gaming purposes. But in monitors under Rs.10000 you will mostly find a 60Hz refresh rate.

    Response time: shorter the better

Response time in monitors refers to the time taken by a monitor to change from one color to another. The response time of a monitor is measured in milliseconds (ms) and it describes how fast pixels can change colors. So, the faster the better. As technology continues to push forward, manufacturers are including features like 10-bit panels and 1ms response times into their monitors. In 60Hz monitors, it is common to have not more than 20ms response time, if you want to go lower than that you can opt for monitors with higher refresh rates.

Monitors with TN panels tend to have a shorter response time as they are made for gaming.

Adaptive Sync Technology (AMD FREESYNC and NVIDIA G-SYNC):

Adaptive sync technology solves one of the major problems facing PC users – image tearing. It’s a problem that occurs when the rate at which frames are rendered by the GPU differs from the refresh rate of a monitor or display, causing visual artifacts that can greatly impact the overall experience. With Adaptive Sync technology, the display will always refresh at a rate which matches the output of your graphics card. Whether it’s 60Hz or 144Hz, Adaptive Sync ensures you get the smoothest and most responsive gaming imaginable.

Gsync technology is exclusive for nvidia cards while Freesync works on all AMD cards and some Nvidia cards, tooFreesync works on all AMD cards and some Nvidia cards, too. So more monitors are available with freesync support.

What to expect from monitors in this price range?

Resolution: In the price range of Rs.10000 you can expect to get a monitor with FHD resolution with a 60Hz display. While you won’t be able to get a 4K display at this price point, you can still have a good experience with an FHD 1080P monitor.

Size: You can find monitors up to 25 inches in this price range, but going for a 21-inch build with good build quality and good specs is recommended.

Ports: The most you will get in this price range is an HDMI and a USB port. Look for monitors with USB type C ports as that one port can provide many functionalities than just feeding power. You might also find monitors with legacy ports such as VGA.

Refresh rate: You can expect refresh rates as high as 75Hz, though you won’t notice much difference between 60Hz and 75Hz. Do not settle for anything less than 60Hz.

Response time: 5ms is a common response time for the monitors in this range, but you will also find monitors with response time as low as 1ms. These monitors use VRB, which is a new technique to reduce response time by strobing back-light. But using VRB might induce some strain on your eyes.

These monitors might not be the best when it comes to gaming or editing but they still provide a decent balanced experience for some casual work and lightweight gaming.

    3. What is a VESA mount?

VESA mount is a standard developed by the Video Electronics Standards Association and used for mounting LCD and LED monitors and TVs. VESA mounts are designed to be installed on a wall, desk or stand, allowing you to choose your preferred viewing position and angle. A wall mount is essential for hanging up a big screen TV, while arms and desk mounts are more common for monitors.

    • Seat comfort: the seat should not be so soft that it creates problems for your back and neither so firm that it causes soreness in your buttocks.
    • Back support: proper back support and lumbar support are important but some chairs have gimmicky lumbar supports which aren’t very effective. Most high end chairs provide lumbar support by design but see what works for you.
    • Arm rest comfort: the height, width and length of arm rest should be of proper fit and there should be adjustments for the same as well as for pivot angle of arm rest. Many chairs also have arm rest cushioning to keep your elbows soft uwu.
    • Adjustments: an office chair should be highly adjustable to fit the needs of the user . In addition to seat height and armrest adjustments, some standard adjustments are tilt lock, back height and headrest adjustments.
    • Build quality: comfort and adjustability are of no use if it doesn’t last. You don’t want to be sitting on ripped fabric and a broken chair. Robustness in design and quality of materials are definitely very important.
    • Assembly process: If I wanted to assemble chairs I’d be working in a chair factory. No one likes to perform over-complicated assembly but decide for yourself if it is worth it.
    • Warranty policy: warranty is like cake, the more you get the better. All good brands provide a warranty for their chairs, some better than the others. Generally higher end chairs have more extensive and longer duration warranty.
    • Return policy: some manufacturers have fees for returning products while some need paperwork, others are simple. Easy returns are definitely desirable.

Now that you can judge an office chair like my ex used to judge me, let’s look at the best office chairs available in India.

Steelcase leap v2 is a well rounded premium product. Fitting people of almost all sizes, coming in with ample adjustments, and build quality so good that it will last a lifetime, literally. In fact, I very often use “yo mama so fat, she broke the Steelcase chair when she sat on it” as a legit comeback. The seat is one of the most comfortable in the market. While the seat pad isn’t really thick, it does not cause any issues at all for long sitting time. Back support is the best in class with it’s Liveback technology which provides both flexibility and support. It has comfortable armrests with height , depth, width and pivot adjustments. This chair is one of the most adjustable chairs around with the option to adjust seat height, seat depth, arm width, arm depth, arm height, arm pivot, adjustable lumbar support and 5 tilt lock positions. The only standard adjustment it’s missing is the back height adjustment but that should already be tall enough for most users with the back height standard of 25”. it also comes with an optional headrest. One very strong point of leap v2 is this single chair can fit many different credit to the adjustments and standard back and seat size. This baby comes fully assembled right out of the box with a return policy of 30 days provided you keep original packaging. It has a lifetime warranty for the frame and 12 years for other parts, see I wasn’t joking before. Also, they cover expenses for all repairs and pay you if they can’t repair it, talk about service. It has the best build quality in industry with premium top of the line materials. Stylish and comfortable and a solid choice for those that can afford it.

Another solid product from Steelcase, this chair is another solid choice for a premium office chair. It fits most uses easily no matter what their body size is due to it’s very high adjustability. The highlight though has to be the 4d highly adjustable arms which are even more adjustable than those in leap v2. the seat is similar to that of leap v2 which is not very thick but surprisingly causes no issues and is very comfortable. The lumbar support is adjustable but the effect isn’t as pronounced as that in leap v2. The backrest moves with you and provides adequate support in all positions. The arms come with 4d adjustments but also with a staggering range of 10.25” to 22.5” wide and up to 4.25” high. This chair comes in with all the standard adjustments except back height adjustments but that should not be considered a problem as it has a very high back height which can easily fit most people. The seat comfort might be dependent on whether you can get used to the mesh but this 8z pellicle mesh is very flexible and soft to touch . backrest has adjustable lumbar support and head rest is also adjustable. Arm rests have soft cushions on top and are fully adjustable with height, depth and pivot adjustments. Even the smoothest surfaces have cracks right? This seat also has some drawbacks in spite of all the features mesh seats are not for everybody and if you can’t get used to it, it’s better to consider other options. It also doesn’t have seat depth or back height adjustments, can’t have it all. Everything considered, this chair is a solid choice and has passed the test of time. If you’ve been searching chairs, chances are you’ve come across it already a couple of times. An iconic chair indeed.

  • Best Power Supplies to Buy In India (covers every budget!)

Best Power Supplies to Buy In India (covers every budget!)

Power Supply Units or PSUs are one of the most important part of a PC Build since they power your entire build. Be it a low-end PC or a higher-end one, a good PSU is really important. As after all, nobody wants a ticking time bomb in your PC (that’s right, bad PSUs have a tendency to explode). Now choosing a power supply can be quite boring since there are a lot of options available and they’re not exactly easy to distinguish. A buyer can easily get confused when it comes to the wattage of a PSU, its rating, efficiency, and overall reliability. But I’m here to make things a little easy (I’ll try).

So let’s start with one of the most important questions, what power output do you need?

Now instead of calculating the power consumption of each part, you have individually you can use a wattage calculator to get a better idea and save a lot of time.

    Some good wattage calculators online-

Power Supply Calculator – PSU Wattage Calculator

    Seasonic Wattage Calculator

To use the tools, select the components you plan on using, and it will automatically calculate the estimated power output you’ll need.

For example, if I plan on getting a Ryzen 5 5600x, pair it with an RTX 3070, along with 16 gigabytes of memory and a 500 gig SSD, the recommended PSU wattage will be 472 watts. (according to the Newegg one)

Now hold on, don’t go buying a 500W PSU for your RTX 3070 build, there are a few more things

you need to consider while deciding the wattage.

1-Extra fans and coolers you plan to add to your build.

2-Extra headroom for power spikes ( the spikes aren’t that much in modern components but it’s good to leave a headroom of approximately 100 watts)

3- Future Upgrades- It’s important to think about future upgrades as a good PSU may easily last 10 years or so (some PSUs have a 10-year warranty)

Now taking all this into consideration I’d suggest getting at least a 650W PSU for an RTX 3070/5600x  build, which is like +200W from the recommended wattage.

    What is 80 Plus Certification?

Now as you go on browsing PSUs for your build, you’ll notice many are labeled with an 80+ certification. 80 Plus is a certification program that manufacturers utilize to provide some assurance that their power supplies will meet certain efficiency requirements.80 Plus has various levels ranging from Basic to Titanium.

This is a table consisting of efficiency levels for consumer power supplies-

    % of rated load 10% 20% 50% 100%
    80 Plus 80% 80% 80%
    80 Plus Bronze 82% 85% 82%
    80 Plus Silver 85% 88% 85%
    80 Plus Gold 87% 90% 87%
    80 Plus Platinum 90% 92% 89%
    80 Plus Titanium 90% 92% 94% 90%

Now I know all this is a little complicated to understand but to keep it basic, the difference is how efficiently the PSU transforms energy on a specific load level.  To conclude this complicated part, simply getting an 80 Plus Bronze rated PSU as a minimum is recommended.

Should you get a Modular PSU, a Semi-Modular PSU, or a Non Modular one?

Another important aspect of buying a PSU is choosing between a Modular, Non-Modular, or a Semi-Modular one.

Non-Modular PSUsThese PSUs have all their cables attached.Probably cause they were around since cable management wasn’t a thing and people didn’t care about cables making a mess. Although they still have some advantages like being cost-effective and if you’re someone who uses all the wires which come with a power supply, there’s no point in paying for modularity.

Semi-Modular PSUs– Semi-modular power supplies are kind of a middle ground between modular and non-modular PSUs and that’s what makes them great. They come with most of the necessary cables pre-attached and thus are really easy to use for new builders.

Modular PSUs- These power supplies have some or all of their cables detachable. They help in cable management but are really hard to use for new builders as connecting the plethora of cables can be a little complex.

Which one should you get? Well unless you’re using custom cable mods, there’s no reason to pay extra for a modular PSU, getting a semi-modular PSU will be enough for most people.
The option to detach cables is nothing but a luxury and it shouldn’t be a deciding factor when you’re choosing a power supply.

Getting to the part you’ve been waiting for (I hope), here are some of the best PSUs you can buy in India according to their price and wattage.

    Where are the 1000W+ PSUs?

After going through the list you might be wondering where the 1000W+ Power Supplies are. Well the reason I decided to not include them is most people who will read this won’t actually need a 1000W+ power supply. An 850W one is enough for most consumer PC Builds.

But if you’re someone who wants to future proof for the next 10 years or wants to SLI 3090s or you’re a miner with multiple GPUs, here are some good options you could consider-

    1-Corsair RM1000x

    2-Cooler Master V1000

    3-Corsair HX1200

So many options, which one should you get?

Selecting a power supply out of the ones I’ve listed above might be a bit confusing but what you should keep in mind is, the above power supplies are all good quality ones backed by a warranty from a reputable company. So simply, decide what features you want and what budget might be the best for you, and voila! You’ve decided which power supply to get. Now you can finally power up your build and enjoy hours of gaming.

    Conclusion

Whatever you end up buying, keep in mind that a good PSU is an investment. Most good power supplies have long warranties thus lasting for years. When your PC can no longer handle the latest games, upgrading your GPU and CPU can solve the problem. But your PSU will remain the same between many builds and thus it should be a priority.

Remember, never cheap out on your PSU!
