Things to consider before buying a controller:

    Connectivity

While buying a controller you can choose between a wired or a wireless controller. Wired controllers will have a USB wire for connection and wireless controllers will rely on bluetooth or WiFi dongles for connectivity. The connection configuration is important because it determines the input lag. Wired controllers will have less input lag as compared to the wireless ones, so choose according to the kind of games you will be playing. Some controllers like the Xbox controller can be used both in wired as well as wired configurations.

    Rumble feature

Most of the controllers have in-built vibration motors that help in giving vibration feedback. This vibration makes the gaming experience more immersive and engaging. Make sure to check if the controller has the rumble feature or not!

    Size and Comfort

You need to make sure the controller is comfortable for your hands. An ergonomic design will get you a better grip on the controller and would significantly improve the experience. Also make sure to check the weight of the controller, this will depend upon your preference whether to choose a heavy or a light controller. Weight can make a difference during long competitive sessions, the optimal weight for a controller sits around at 300-400 grams but in the end it’s about your preference.

    Build quality

Most of the controllers are made up of plastic, make sure that the controller has a good build quality that will withstand any impacts. A loose grip or an accidental fall are pretty common accidents, a strongly built controller will be able to easily counter such mishaps.

    Compatibility

You can find controllers for PC, android/IOS and consoles. Make sure that the controller is compatible with the device of your choice.

    Input type

Controllers come in two different types of input formats namely XInput and DirectInput. The type of input depends upon the games, most of the older games used DirectInput library while the newer ones use the XInput. You won’t be able to play XInput games with a Directinput controller. Most of the latest controllers support both XInput and DirectInput, you can easily switch between them while playing the game.

    Special features

Apart from all of these standard features some controllers come with additional features like haptic feedback, audio jacks(dualshock4 and Xbox controller have one), speakers(dualshock4 has built in speakers). Some controllers like dualshock4 also have motion sensing capabilities, so look out for those!

    Frequently asked questions

1.How to use the USB adapter of the controller with a phone?

You can use a OTG cable to attach a USB adapter to your phone. Just plug in the OTG cable and plug the adapter to its end.

    2. What is the difference between normal rumble and haptic feedback?

The difference is the way vibrations are fed to the user. In rumble controllers the vibration is only on one level, doesn’t matter if you are driving a car or getting hit the vibration will always be at the same level. Haptic feedback is all about simulating the in game activities by subtly changing the levels of vibration. A controller with haptic feedback will give you a more immersive experience than a normal one.

    3. What are analog triggers and joysticks?

There are two types of triggers and joysticks that you will find in controllers, analog and digital. Digital triggers or joysticks are just normal switches, that is they are either on or off. While they are useful they prove to be inefficient when it comes to racing games where you have to gradually accelerate or decelerate. This is not possible with digital buttons. Analog buttons record a varying input than just on or off. These buttons register how far you press them allowing for functions like throttling or braking in games. Most of the joysticks on the controllers are analog but not all of the triggers are analog so make sure to check that.

    4. Will a Xbox or a PS4 controller work with a PC?

Most of the PC games are compatible with both of these controllers, you can just plug and play most of the titles. While the PS4’s dualshock 4 is compatible with all of the steam games you might have to use a third party software for games out of steam.

    5. Will an android controller work with Android smart TV?

Android controllers are made for devices that run the android operating system. As long as the TV is running on Android and has Wifi or bluetooth, the controller will work fine. Note that it will work just with the games downloaded from play store, any third party games on your android Tv might require separate button mapping.

    Conclusion

As you can see, there are many factors that go into choosing the best controller for PC and Android gaming. Thankfully, we’ve already done all the hard work for you! But if you are still not sure which controller to go for then here’s a quick rundown!

  • Best camera drones in India 2021

Best camera drones in India 2021

DGCA  lifted the long running blanket ban on drones back in 2018 making the use of drone cameras legal in India.

Drones have become far more than just simple aerial toys that they used to be. Drone cameras allow professional photography and videography of landscapes, buildings and unreachable places which can only be done before with the help of a helicopter or a hefty big crane!

The Indian government and the drone flying community have had a tense relationship ever since the ban was lifted. But drone flying is still prevalent and ever growing among the Indian crowd.

Drones are a great investment for budding or professional  photo and videographers as it’s a no brainer that a drone camera is a must if you want to add production value to your photography or videography by adding scenic aerial shots.

But those scenic aerial shots have a hefty price tag, you get what you paid for. If you want to invest in a good drone that can capture stunning footage you need to be ready to spend some serious cash. So research is must before buying a drone.

Even though the market is dominated by DJI drones there are a few underdogs that are trying to make it big  in the Indian market. We at techoids have curated a list of the best drones that you can buy in India to help you narrow down your search for your perfect match!

What to look for while buying a drone

    GPS

According to the DGCA, GPS is a mandatory feature to have for flying drones in India.

The positioning system helps the drone to keep its position stable, you don’t want your drone to be flowing with the breeze!

It not only helps in stabilizing drones position but it also enables automatic return to the take off point if the drone loses control or if the battery is on the verge of dying.

    Controller

Most of the controllers work by sending a radio signal to the drone, which tells the drone what to do.

Some of the lower standard controllers use Wi-Fi to send the signals to the drone, these controllers usually have poor range (around 100m). Some drones might also use a smartphone as a controller. A good controller range is important if you want better accessibility.

    Camera & gimbal

If you are just getting into flying drones, a drone camera close to 2MP would be able to shoot decent photos and videos. But professionals who want high quality footage can go for 1080p HD or 4k quality cameras as well.

Some high standard drones often come with stabilization features such as gimbals. even though the inclusion of a gimbal ramps the drone’s price up the smooth high quality footage that you get  pays it all off!

    Battery

Drones can have either rechargeable or replaceable batteries. If you want to fly your drone for a long periods of time, look for drones with interchangeable batteries. Swapping batteries with spare ones will allow you to take another go at capturing that perfect shot!

    The App

Some of the drones might use a smartphone as a controller. The apps that come bundled with the drone will have virtual buttons and various different features to control and monitor your drone.

Before investing into a drone that uses a smartphone controller, it’s better to check the usability of the app. Ending up with an app with bad UI and usability would significantly hinder your flying experience.

    Flight time

Flight time of your drone mainly depends upon the battery and the type of your drone (nano, micro). Usually flight times range from 8-30 minutes.

Most of the nano drones will have 8-12 minutes of flight time while micro drones can have 30+ minutes of flight time.

It’s crucial to choose a drone with a decent flight time as it affects the quality and length of the footage that you will be capturing.

    Type

According to the standards of DGCA drones in India are classified according to their weight. Some of the drone types that are available in the market are nano, micro, small, medium and large drones.

To fly a drone in India all drones except nano ones require permission. So when you are buying a drone look out for its type!

Here’s the list of drones that we recommend!

Even though the Ryze tello weighs just about 235g its stabilizing features do a good job at keeping its position intact. Due to its weight it falls under the nano drone category which means you won’t have to take permission before every flight.

    What is NPNT?

No permission, no takeoff (NPNT) is a software program that allows every drone (except nano drones) to get permission from the Digital Sky Platform before every flight in India. It is mandatory to obtain permission before every flight, if not taken the drone will simply not fly.

What are the mandatory features that a drone should have in India?

All drones (except nano) should have GPS, return to home(RTH) feature, Anti collision light, ID plate, a controller with flight data logging capabilities.

Rules that you need to follow while flying drones in India.

According to the Ministry of civil aviation, flying a drone is legal in India. After DGCA (Directorate general of civil aviation) lifted the ban on drones back in 2018 CAR (Civil Aviation Requirements) for drones was formed which came into effect on December 1,2018.

Drones in India are categorized according to their weight:

    • Nano: Less than or equal to 250 grams
    • Micro: From 250 grams (.55 pounds) to 2kg
    • Small: From 2kg (4.4 pounds) to 25kg
    • Medium: From 25kg (55 pounds) to 150kg
    • Large: Greater than 150kg

Nano drones require no registration while all the others need to get registered from DGCA after which they will obtain their unique identification number(UIN) for their drone.

Registered drones need to take permission from India’s digital sky platform before every single flight. This is being called India’s “No permission, No takeoff” (NPNT) system. If a pilot tries to fly his/her drone without taking permission they will simply not be able to take off.

Users who own a small, medium or a large drone need a pilot license to fly the drone in India. Anyone who is 18 years of age and has passed 10th grade can obtain this license. The pilots will have to go for a mandatory 35 hours of training to obtain this license. Information about how to register as a pilot can be found here.

Foreigners are currently not allowed to fly drones in India. Although they can turn their drone to an indian personnel who can then obtain a unique identification number from the DGCA.

Drones can be flown as long as they are within the visual limits of the pilot and are flown outside the “No fly zones”. These no fly zones include airports, international borders and government buildings.

These are the mandatory features that a drone flown in India should have:

    • GPS
    • ID plate
    • Controller with flight data logging feature
    • Anti collision light

    TLDR:

    • Registration and UIN (Unique identification number) are necessary for every drone except the nano category.
    • No drone should surpass the limit of 400 feet vertically.
    • Drones should be in the limits of the pilot’s line of vision.
    • Flying drones is restricted in the “No fly zone”, these zones include airports, government buildings and international borders.
    • Permission from digital sky platform is necessary before every flight.
    • Registration of pilots with small, medium and large drone is mandatory.

More information on rules and regulations of flying drones in India can be found on the DGCA website.

    Conclusion

DJI drones are currently dominating the Indian market. Due to the recent legalization of drones in India, the drone market is fairly new. So if you want to invest in a drone right now go for DJI drones.

The coming years might prove important for the industry as we are seeing new companies taking chances and diving into the ever growing Indian market. While products like Poweregg x lack a bunch of features that DJI’s drones have, we might see a huge surge in their demand because of their distinctive features.

If you are a hobbyist and you just need a drone to capture footage on your trips and picnics, you should go for Ryze tello which gives you a decent amount of power and features to have fun with and as it is a nano drone you will don’t have to request for permission every time you want to fly it, or if you have a bigger budget you can go for DJI mini 2.

If you are looking for a drone to capture high quality footage for travel vlogs or professional projects you should definitely go for DJI mavic 2 pro which has absolutely everything needed to capture great footage.

  • BEST OFFICE CHAIRS FOR WORK FROM HOME IN INDIA 2021

BEST OFFICE CHAIRS FOR WORK FROM HOME IN INDIA 2021

Working from home has been a dream come true for many people, one of the not so many upsides of the covid lockdown but it does come with its own set of unique challenges. While working from home allows you to attend meetings in boxers, it can also cause a lot of physical and mental stress owing to long sitting hours and reduced interactions with people. Sitting for long hours for work can cause a lot of physical stress on your body and all sorts of problems associated with it. A good chair is thus one of if not the most important component of a good work from home setup. An uncomfortable chair can cause frustration and irritability as well and hence a good chair can also help reduce fatigue and mental strain. A good sitting position can go a long way in maintaining good posture and physical and mental health and a good chair helps to ensure just that. Okay, now that you’ve decided that you want to buy a good chair for your home office, let’s look at how to get the best chair to make your work from home experience more fun and productive. There is a wide variety of chairs floating around in the market like the extravagant executive chair, the sleek mesh chair, the legendary iconic plastic Monoblock chair, the crazy gaming chair(yeah, crazy USELESS! Literally, they’re useless please don’t buy them) so it can get a bit tricky to choose the best chair but fear not my friend we’re here to guide you so that you don’t make stupid decisions like buying a gaming chair as uh, my friend did. Anyways, the type of chair you want is the office chair and there a few key considerations when buying office chairs so let’s dive right in!

    HOW TO CHOOSE

Buying an office chair is a significant investment but also an important one for your health and well being. A good chair is not only comfortable and increases productivity but also improves mood and posture. Some key things to consider while buying an office chair are listed below :-

    • Seat: check the height, width and depth of chair from front to back to make sure it fits you perfectly. There are different sizes available so make sure you get the right size.
    • Seat comfort: the seat should not be so soft that it creates problems for your back and neither so firm that it causes soreness in your buttocks.
    • Back support: proper back support and lumbar support are important but some chairs have gimmicky lumbar supports which aren’t very effective. Most high end chairs provide lumbar support by design but see what works for you.
    • Arm rest comfort: the height, width and length of arm rest should be of proper fit and there should be adjustments for the same as well as for pivot angle of arm rest. Many chairs also have arm rest cushioning to keep your elbows soft uwu.
    • Adjustments: an office chair should be highly adjustable to fit the needs of the user . In addition to seat height and armrest adjustments, some standard adjustments are tilt lock, back height and headrest adjustments.
    • Build quality: comfort and adjustability are of no use if it doesn’t last. You don’t want to be sitting on ripped fabric and a broken chair. Robustness in design and quality of materials are definitely very important.
    • Assembly process: If I wanted to assemble chairs I’d be working in a chair factory. No one likes to perform over-complicated assembly but decide for yourself if it is worth it.
    • Warranty policy: warranty is like cake, the more you get the better. All good brands provide a warranty for their chairs, some better than the others. Generally higher end chairs have more extensive and longer duration warranty.
    • Return policy: some manufacturers have fees for returning products while some need paperwork, others are simple. Easy returns are definitely desirable.

Now that you can judge an office chair like my ex used to judge me, let’s look at the best office chairs available in India.

This chair is one of the most adjustable chairs around with the option to adjust seat height, seat depth, arm width, arm depth, arm height, arm pivot, adjustable lumbar support and 5 tilt lock positions. The only standard adjustment it’s missing is the back height adjustment but that should already be tall enough for most users with the back height standard of 25”. it also comes with an optional headrest. One very strong point of leap v2 is this single chair can fit many different credit to the adjustments and standard back and seat size. This baby comes fully assembled right out of the box with a return policy of 30 days provided you keep original packaging. It has a lifetime warranty for the frame and 12 years for other parts, see I wasn’t joking before. Also, they cover expenses for all repairs and pay you if they can’t repair it, talk about service. The highlight though has to be the 4d highly adjustable arms which are even more adjustable than those in leap v2. the seat is similar to that of leap v2 which is not very thick but surprisingly causes no issues and is very comfortable. The lumbar support is adjustable but the effect isn’t as pronounced as that in leap v2. The backrest moves with you and provides adequate support in all positions. The arms come with 4d adjustments but also with a staggering range of 10.25” to 22.5” wide and up to 4.25” high. • Free open source alternative to Skype – Ring

Free open source alternative to Skype – Ring

Skype may be one of the most important messaging tools on the market, but security has always been one of its weaknesses, and lack of access to the code for an audit does not help either. Those users who want a much more private profile in their communications are likely to come to the conclusion that the best option is to replace Skype altogether, and that’s when Ring appears. This client works in a decentralised way and has built compatible with the main operating systems.

Why are you so insistent on the idea that current messengers are not suitable for users? One of the reasons that appear at the top of the list is “lack of transparency”. WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger use proprietary code (although the Signal Protocol in WhatsApp is GPLv3) . In fact, the owner is the same. We have no idea what happens in the background, what is shared, and who listens. WhatsApp’s scuffles with justice have been several, but that is no guarantee of anything. Computer security experts want to see the code, and they can not. The same thing happens with Skype, and worse, this client has appeared in filtered documents of the NSA.

Ring is presented as a Skype clone, at least as far as its interface is concerned. The technical differences are quite broad, starting with a decentralised operation, based on the OpenDHT protocol. Each user receives a special 40-character RingID, which must be shared with others to initiate a contact. Encryption is applied end-to-end, and there is no data collection. Basically, the idea behind Ring is for communication to return to user control, regardless of its preferred platform. The official website delivers builds compatible with Linux, Windows, MacOS (OS X) and Android, in addition to the source code.

Beyond his good intentions and the technological superiority that Ring can have in comparison with Skype and other similar messengers, the fundamental problem remains intact: The user is obliged to initiate an “evangelization” process for his contacts to adopt this Software and communicate with it. On the other hand, Ring is a work in progress, and anyone who wants to try it should expect all kinds of sharp edges (for example, the last beta 2 is not retro-compatible, and only connects with clients of identical version). These are classic challenges that many other projects have failed to overcome, however, we want Ring to be the exception.

  • ArcaBoard: Will 2016 be the year of mainstream hoverboard?

ArcaBoard: Will 2016 be the year of mainstream hoverboard?

Many people have tried to make a hoverboard in the past using various weird methods. However, the ArcaBoard takes a more traditional path as that of brute force, using a total of 36 fans to raise a person several centimeters for a short time.

The ArcaBoard have 36 fans producing 272 horsepower generating 196 kilograms of thrust using impressive amount of lithium-ion batteries. ArcaSpace, the creator of this hoverboard, began their journey as one of the original Ansari X Prize competitors in 2004. The ArcaBoard did not win any awards for its aesthetics, and seems incredibly difficult to control, assuming that the pilot has some kind of real control(yes, it has self-stabilizing, and can fly with a smartphone). How much high can it fly?About 30 centimeters.

    Arcaboard_Diagram

And the basic question: What is the catch? Firstly, ArcaBoard can fly for only six minutes . No, it’s not a joke. The addition of more batteries cause the ArcaBoard to even beat its own weight. It takes 6 hours to recharge the battery, hover you can buy additional battery module which can be charged within 35minutes.  Finally, the hoverboard costs $ 19,900 , plus another $ 4,500 per battery module. We applaud in advance to all the pioneers who have decided to enter the pre-order and wait until April to receive it.
